Interesting and timely topic. This reminds me of Ray Kurzweil's Singularity theory, which argues that technology is advancing at such an exponential rate that eventually machine intelligence will surpass that of humans (eek!).

For now, we humans are still in control (whew!). That also means we have a choice in how we handle this technology curve and the opportunities (and threats) it presents. We get excited about technology because it generally makes our lives easier and better. Why not continue that trend by looking for ways to harness - rather than resist - the technologies that help us evolve as a species?

Imagine a human brain that has the searching and indexing power of Google, but that also realizes its full capacity to create, innovate and empathize.

That would offer humans a whole new level of job security.
