Three local clubs—First Avenue, 7th Street Entry, and The Cabooze—were on Pollstar’s 2011 list of “top 100 club venues.”
Minneapolis’ music scene just got a boost, with three of its clubs making Pollstar’s 2011 list of “top 100 club venues” worldwide.
Pollstar is a national trade publication covering the worldwide concert industry.
Downtown Minneapolis’ beloved concert venue and nightclub First Avenue ranked sixth on Pollstar’s list, which is based on ticket sales. The club reported having sold 174,639 tickets in 2011, according to Pollstar.
7th Street Entry, which is housed in the same building as First Avenue—reportedly sold 33,982 tickets in 2011 and ranked 82nd on Pollstar’s list. And The Cabooze, located on Cedar Avenue in south Minneapolis, ranked 94th with 29,223 tickets sold last year.
New York’s Terminal 5, which sold 268,973 tickets in 2011, topped Pollstar’s list. It was followed by Washington, D.C.’s 9:30 Club (256,881 tickets), House of Blues Boston (245,812 tickets), Ancienne Belgique in Brussels, Belgium (241,921), and St. Louis’ The Pageant (181,451).
Pollstar puts together the list every year, relying on clubs to report their yearly ticket sales to the publication. Pollstar said that many, but not all, venues reported their 2011 sales for the ranking.
